Roman Sedov (b. 1995, Minsk, BY) is a self-taught multilingual artist from Antwerp. He has always been fascinated by the use of everyday objects in big cities, especially those lying abandoned on the streets. Currently, Roman uses only the ashes of discarded objects, mainly ashes from cigarettes, to bring the aesthetics of this transience onto his palette. By using only ashes, he makes us reflect on the absurdity of life and at the same time see the unexpected beauty of the most banal things. Over the years, he began to create art that explores the profound intersection of life and the overlooked. Inspired by mythological and religious stories of rebirth or resurrection, where ashes symbolize renewal and transformation. Roman’s works symbolize resilience and transformation, inviting viewers to reconsider the beauty and meaning of the seemingly mundane.
